Monthly Archives: August 2012

Thank you and good bye for a few weeks – I’ll be back in September!

Thank you to all who have contributed and supported Leytonstone Museum in the first six months of it’s existence. We have has thousands of visits to the blog from over 30 different countries and a few hundred people have visited exhibitions held by the volunteer curators and myself. Click here for photographs of these exhibitions.

Leytonstone Museum will be having a short summer break as I finish off my dissertation which is due in early September. I will then resume the museum and hope to encourage new participants and new ideas from anyone who would like to get involved. Visitors have asked for more historical information so I am very interested to hear from writers and local people with stories of Leytonstone’s past. As a contemporary museum I am also keen to keep up with Leytonstone’s present so do keep sending in photographs for the archive and ideas you have for developing a virtual and pop-up museum for Leytonstone.

Have a good summer and I’ll be back in September!

Look out next week for photographs of the Bloomsbury exhibition!

Leytonstone Museum will be having a break for a few weeks but look out next week for the photographs of the most recent exhibition which should be on the exhibitions page tomorrow!

Over the rest of August I will be taking a break to write the dissertation but plan to get things going again in September. So if you are interested in curating exhibitions, have a venue where an exhibition could be hosted or have photographs to contribute, please do email and I will reply in early September.

I will also be looking for local historians, artists and writers who would like to help develop the museum further. More information in September – until then, enjoy the summer!
